PK

It's official, Matt is an official Teaching Elder and Pastor in the PCA and Owen is a PK (Pastor's Kid). Last night was Matt's ordination service here at West End Presbyterian Church. It was a great celebration of God's faithful guidance and provision in calling and equipping Matt for the ministry as well as a commitment by Matt and the Session of our church to this ministry and to the work of the Lord. In all of the excitement, we did not take any pictures. I think that my dad got one and Matt's parents may have a couple, so we'll post those at a later time. For now, I just wanted to share this exciting news. It was a big day for our family. We are thankful to the Lord for the work that He has called us to and equipped us for and will continue to equip us for. We can not do it without Him!

Congrats to my sweet husband, The Reverend Matthew T. Purdy.

Lots of Words

I think this will be one of our first posts without pictures. But that is appropriate. I wanted to share some of Owen's newest words with everyone. He's been talking up a storm and it's so much fun.

Our favorite is turtle. We saw a turtle outside of our house one day 2 weeks ago, and Owen has been talking about it ever since. He looks for the turtle under our porch EVERY time we leave the house and EVERY time we come home. Since the turtle has returned to his pond, Owen says "no no" and shakes his head. Other times he'll say "Bye Bye Turtle." He is very excited whenever we see a turtle in a book or on a show.

He calls my watch a show. I think it's because we say "Owen, do you want to watch a show?" So when he points to my watch and I say "Watch" he says "Show".

His sign language has picked up too and it's very helpful - he'll say more, all done, please, thank you, your welcome, no-no and help.

It's amazing to see how grown up our sweet little baby boy has gotten! Now that he's walking he seems like he's 3! The other day Matt said "Don't grow up too fast buddy!" I agree!

Thanks for reading my stories about our sweet son!

Following the leader

Owen is walking! He started slowly over the last two weeks and is now a very good walker. He still crawls about 50-75% of the time, and holds our hands if we're out and about (if we're not carrying him), but at home he cruises around a lot.

Here is a video of Matt and Owen playing "Follow the Leader." Sorry that it is sideways! (Note - just before I took this, I was out running an errand and Matt and Owen played this game for a good 15 minutes!)

Cousins Camp 2007

We have just returned from a great week at "Cousins Camp!" We'll try to capture all that happened by sharing some pictures with you. WARNING - when I say "some" pictures, I mean a lot!

Here are the cousins from Cousins Camp 2007 - Reese (9 1/2), Megan (almost 7), Anna (17 months) and Owen (almost 17 months)

The guys got to spend one morning/early afternoon on the golf course. One of the holes runs past my parents house, so the ladies went out to cheer them on. Owen, Aunt Carolyn, Anna, Megan and I walked a few of the holes with them to see them in action. They did a great job!

My Grandma and Grandpa were able to come for a few days of cousins camp too. It was a blessing to spend time with them and for Owen to get to know them better too.

One of the fun things that Gramma and Grampa had at the house were these huge bubble makers. All of the cousins enjoyed them!

There were tournaments as well - Air Hockey, Fusball, XBox (Monkeyball), and Chess. Here is a picture of one of the games - between Matt and my mom. How does one play Air Hockey with his mother in law?

Here is a practice match of Monkey Ball. Owen LOVED watching it!

We went to the park a few times throughout the week as well. This is the park that Matt and I would always go to during college to run or talk or play soccer with friends. It was fun to have Owen there with us.

Here are Anna and Owen enjoying the swings.

Anna and Owen enjoyed a cousins bath one night - they are at the age where I don't think they really even noticed that the other was there. We enjoyed it!

We went out to dinner one night at our FAVORITE mexican restaraunt El Charro.

Here are the cousins walking together after El Charro.

We went for a hike one day - it was quite an adventure with the little kids. They enjoyed it in the end. And so did we!

Mom and dad treated us to the new Water Park at Massanutten. It was a blast! The Lazy River was a highlight for all!

Here are Owen and Anna holding hands - something they did a lot of this week. Sorry it's sideways.

Owens new TV watching stance. HE got so excited he stood right up!
