Summer Fun!

Summer has finally come to central PA! We have been enjoying a break from school and routine. I generally keep us going with some school work over the summer, but not yet this year! The break has been very good for us.

Last week I attended a seminar for the homeschool group we are part of and was so refreshed! It was helpful to have some perspective of being with others who are also homeschooling their kids and a reminder of the main goal. The mission of our group (Classical Conversations) has become the mission of our home school  - To know God and to make Him known. All that we do in and out of school is anchored in this truth. I needed to remember that because so much tries to take over as most important. Even when we learn math or English grammar or science we are doing that within that mission. As we learn about the planets or about skip counting or how to read and write well, we are seeing more of who God is and we are being prepared to make Him known to each other and all who we are around. Thankful to be reanchored.

Aside from that we are having fun, some of the time, and learning more about how to love each other the rest of the time!!

Here are pics of the fun, trust me you don't want to see pics of the learning times!!

Belated Father's Day

I am a week late on this, but I wanted to be sure to put this up anyway.

I am so thankful for my own Daddy and I am so thankful for my kids Daddy!

Thank you Dad for being someone who has always loved me well and has pointed me to God in all of the various seasons of life that I have gone through. Thank you for being a great Grandpa seeking to so the same to my kids along side Matt and I!

Thank you Matt for giving yourself to the love and care and discipline and enjoyment of our kids - especially after long days at work, I am so thankful for how you jump right in to serve me and them!

Love you both!!

Little League

We just finished 2 months of Little League with Owen and Baxter. Owen was on the minor league (coach pitch) Phillies team and Baxter was on the T Ball Phillies team. They both had a blast and learned a lot about the game of baseball. Our family spent almost every weeknight and some Saturdays at the ballpark for the last two months. Lots of rushed 4:45pm dinners to be at the field between 5:30 and 5:45. Lots of lollipops and playground time for Lucy. Lots of cheering and encouraging and watching for Mommy and Daddy!

It was so neat to watch each of the boys grow not only physically in their ability to hit or catch or throw or understand the flow and dynamics of the game, but to watch them run out on the field with joy and confidence, to talk to their coaches and teammates who they knew none of before this season with boldness and to really grow to love the game of baseball. I have learned to love the game of baseball too. Partially because they do and partially because I understand more of the joy of it and the great lessons learned both on the field and in the dug out!

Here are some pics of our baseball players. You will notice one inside our house. They play a lot of pretend baseball with pillows, a Nerf ball and a ping ping paddle. Boys!
