Owen's First Swing!

Last night we took a walk after Owen ate before we put him to sleep (a normal occurance in the Purdy family). After we dropped our trash off at the dumpster, we wondered what Owen would think about a ride on the swingset. So, we walked down to the park in our apartment complex and gave it a whirl. It was a great success! He smiled and talked while we swang him. He spent most of his time looking up at the trees around him, but we could tell that he enjoyed the swing. I'm sure this was the first of many trips to the swings for our family!
What fun!
He realy seemed to enjoy himself!

There was so much to look at!

Owen was mostly fascinated by a new venue to look at the trees

and listen to the birds/crickets in the trees.

Action Shot!

Have you ever tried to take a picture of a moving swing? It's not easy!

Almost 1/2 a year old!

I was realizing that we haven't posted anything since our beach trip - and that was almost 1 month ago! I feel like Owen is changing by the minute sometimes. It's hard to keep up with his changes let alone post all of them to the blog. But we'll try to stay on top of things a little better!

So what is Owen up to these days...

He's rolling around all over the floor. Just the other day he started "creeping." This is a new word to me, but has been used to describe a beginning phase of crawling. He gets up on his knees and scoots with his face on the ground. He doesn't move very far, but if you put something he wants in front of him, he'll "creep" until he reaches it! He can sit up with the support of a loving friend or pillow. Without the friend or pillow he falls over a lot. He is making a lot of new sounds - gurgling the spit in the back of his throat among others. He discovered last week that he has feet and toes - so he likes to grab on to them a lot. He also discovered that he has a tongue, so he sticks it out and makes a spitting sound. He's all boy!

The last picture above is his new Bible given to him by our church. He enjoyed reading it but mostly wanted to eat it. Our campus minister at JMU had a talk about the Word where he said something like "Bible. Eat Bible." We thought Owen would be a great illustration for his talk.

We hope all is well with you! More updates to come as the days go by.
